Trail Work Program

The PA Trail Dogs Mountain Club is a volunteer group working to maintain trails in central PA for year-round outdoor recreation. We have so many beautiful trails here in central PA, but as summer arrives the vegetation takes over making many of these favorite routes unusable for runners and hikers. Our mission is to adopt out sections of these local trails to volunteers who will trim them back and keep them open during the summer months, thus allowing everyone to enjoy them all year long. The more volunteers we get, the more miles of trail that will be open and clear all year long for everyone to enjoy.

Funded by our non-profit, the PA Trail Dogs Mountain Club Association, we provide all the tools needed for our volunteers to keep these PA trails trimmed, cleared, and open for year-round use. We also provide gas (for our gas-powered tools), weed whacker string, and safety gear (including ear protection, gloves, safety glasses, etc.) for all of our volunteers to use. The bulk of our trail work entails weed whacking and clipping, and volunteers must commit to working on their section of trail twice throughout the year (though volunteers are always welcome to do more if they’d like!) —once in early June, and a second time in mid-late July. If you’re interested in adopting a section of trail, please complete the form here and submit it to us. We’ll reply back to you with your trail assignment and more details.
