About
Who and what are the PA Trail Dogs?
The PA Trail Dogs is a volunteer group organized and led by Craig Fleming. The group began building and maintaining trails back in 2006 in Sproul State Forest under the guidance of PA DCNR and The Nature Conservancy. The rehab of existing historical CCC trails and the need to design and build newer, more sustainable trails in the Hyner area led to the idea of the Hyner Trail Challenge and its first running in 2007. This event has become one of the staple trail races in the east with over 1,000 runners participating every April. Along with the Hyner Challenge, the PA Trail Dogs also organize the Slate Run 25K, Sproul 10K, Little Loggers Trail Fest (kids’ race), Hyner Half, Boulder Beast, Call of the Wilds Mountain Fest, Fire on the Rocks 10k, Little Pine 5-Miler, and The View 25k.
